You Hope For More
The activities of the day become like white noise to shut out the unwanted sound of your longing. You see your future in your mind’s eye and it’s a blurry blank. You laugh with your friends around your restaurant table, only it doesn’t reach your soul. You’re used to going through the motions, and you’ve mastered it. But secretly, you hope for more.
There is more.
There is better, there is right, there is exactly where you’re meant to be. Not here. Not this poor imitation that you’re used to. Hope for more.
God has placed in our hearts, seeds of whole worlds, and lifetimes. Our desires, our deeper longings are sometimes pointers to the possibility of what full grown offspring of our seeds could look like. Our deeper passions for questions unsolved, problems unanswered, are pointers to our callings and gifting even, to answer and to solve. We have been called to something, and above all to the One.
Believer, born again of imperishable seed through the living and enduring word of God, why should the seed in you die? Wake up. Stand up. Step forward and answer your call. Say like Samuel, “speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” Say like Isaiah, “here I am.” Say it in your own words; say it with great abandon! God, your Lord, has called you!
Our time on earth is short and our clocks are ticking. Nothing, absolutely nothing can compare to the great beyond this short stay on earth. Not to its rewards nor to its glory. Sow the seed now. And let us pray together that the LORD would give the increase.
You don’t need white noise when the music is playing in your heart.
