The Fish That Couldn’t Swim

I knew once a fish that couldn’t swim

It’s a painful thing,

They tell me

A fish that can’t swim keeps drowning

In it’s own habitat

What great sorrow that is

It had gills to breathe

But just didn’t know it

It had fins to travel distances

I knew a man who couldn’t dream

He just couldn’t picture it

There was just no seeing past this

He had a mind

He had a heart

He had a spirit

There was no lack

What the man didn’t know destroyed him

What he couldn’t see

He wouldn’t be

What my friend the fish didn’t know

Is what killed him

Every fish can swim

Including him
