CHOOSING GREATER THINGS
A good portion of my life is the product of my choices over the years. I see where I am now, and I can often find the thread that connects me to my present circumstances.
I introspect a lot. It’s just the way I am; sometimes though I could overdo it just a tad. But out of many hours of introspection and prayer, I have made certain choices in my life that I’m currently experiencing the fruit of.
Over and over I have surrendered my life to God. There have been places in my life where the validity of my choices have been questioned, and I have time and time again concluded, rediscovered, that God is life – the only life.
I have made such a rediscovery in recent times in an even newer way. I choose to be spiritual; I choose spiritual things.
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22, 23)
I choose the Spirit, and walking in and by the Spirit. There is no possible law against love, joy, peace, and all the things that are evidence of a life lived by following the Spirit.
There’s a choice to be made each day, every day; whether to look up or to look down. Whether to be wise or to be foolish; whether to love or to be apathetic and passive; whether to forgive or to hold on to hurt; whether to live for eternity or to live only for now; whether to sacrifice or to take; whether to seek God or to pretend like He doesn’t exist; whether to receive Him or to be god unto ourselves.
I choose to be spiritual, to bare my soul to my God for myself, for my neighbor. I choose to give of myself, and to forbear. I choose to walk by the Spirit of God who is with me now and forever. Amen.
Peace to you. And much love.
