I know what it’s like to try to face my battles in my own strength. And then I’m reminded, because God is loving like that, to turn to God for help – and mean it.
I need help. From God. We all do.
Sometimes, we are faced with trials that challenge us in a way a part of us likes to be challenged. Our egos puff up and we push harder. We think to ourselves, “I can do this.” Meanwhile God is there, not forceful, patient, hopeful concerning us that we turn to Him in true childlike faith and trust.
We face roadblocks and for the life of us, we can’t even conceive asking for help from anyone, especially the One, our Helper. We forget His words of comfort, “Call to me, and I will answer you.”
Can you trust Him with your mountain of a problem? Can you trust Him to lead you in the best way, make the best decisions, have your back? Is God to be trusted? I mean, really trusted? Is there my part and then God’s part? Is it 50-50? “God, I’ll carry half the burden; You take the other half. You know I have to pull my weight around here.”
When do you think you can begin to take steps and make decisions that show that you put your faith in God 100 per cent?
The Bible says, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfil His good purpose.” –Philippians 2:13
In the verse before that, Paul tells the Philippians to “work out their salvation with fear and trembling”. Yes we have to work, but it will always be “by the grace of God working powerfully in us.” (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Knowing this causes us to seek God with humility. We know, with every fibre of our being that we need Him.
Lord, I need You. Help me. Carry me.
